What is a Politically Exposed Person (PEP) and what if someone is one?

  • Updated

A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is someone who holds, or has held, a prominent public position. This includes politicians, senior government officials, judges, and high-ranking military officers. PEPs can also include their immediate family members and close associates.

What do I need to do if someone involved is a PEP?

  • Provide the following details:
    • Full name of the PEP
    • Their public position or official role
    • Their relationship to your company (e.g., owner, director, close associate)

  • Be aware that applications involving a PEP may require additional review time to ensure regulatory compliance.
